Mind Body Connection
Daily life with its challenges can become monotonous and dull which in many cases can lead to helplessness, stress, anxiety, and depression. However, these same experiences offer great opportunities to know oneself, gain a deeper understanding, and access inner resources only if we pay attention. Becoming aware of our thoughts and feelings while observing our body’s sensations improves the mind-body connection. This practice helps to attune to one's own needs, reestablish rhythmic breathing, relax, and respond effectively to life’s challenges. .
Healthy Relationships
At some point in life, everyone faces difficult situations that involve relationships with other human beings at work, family, friendships, school, etc. We might not agree with others’ opinions, decisions, or actions, and it is key to recognize and use healthy boundaries. These disagreements might be the cause of continuous pain and suffering. As much as we disagree with others, we are only entitled to our own opinion and choices. It is significantly important to avoid loosing one’s own peace due to someone else’s choices. This is indeed a difficult but important skill to cultivate. Moreover, inviting the thought that we are each other’s mirrors, can help us understand that we see in others what we need to see in ourselves. This is a very effective approach to grow empathy, tolerance, patience, and ultimately inner peace.
Parenting & Pre-Parenting
Parents are currently facing great challenges with the rapid changes in society, advances in technology, and overall life’s demands. How can parents address the current pressures without breaking out the connection with their children and their family? The answer is found in the quality of their relationships. Parents are better equipped to overcome challenges when they nurture bonding and positive attachments with their children. A strong parent-child relationship developed and nurtured over the first years of life of the child are the best buffer and protection against behavioral, emotional, or peers related crisis, One must be aware of the importance of these first developing years which begins at the time of conception. Yes, parenting begins before birth and parents can prepare to build a strong foundation for their family by becoming the best role models for their children, thus developing in themselves those qualities that they want to see one day appear in their children. The storms will come, but no storm can break a family bond based on unconditional love, genuine understanding, patience, and respect.
Healthy Eating & Nutrition
In this fast paste rhythm of our society, we can easily lose attention to what we eat and specially how we eat. Recent studies in mental health and gut health have acknowledged the gut-brain connection. Nutrition is primordial for mental health given that the gut health depends on the quality of the microbiome, which in turn is connected to neurotransmitters in the brain. At least three times a day, you can choose to eat mindfully, selecting the most wholesome and nutritious foods that in addition to nourishing your body, inspire you feelings of joy, delight, and gratitude. Your holistic health depends on it.
